Samsung Australia came to an agreement with Apple to suspend the sale of the Galaxy Tab until the lawsuits that Apple has filled in regards to patent copyright infringement. Apple is currently seeking an unspecified amount of damages and an order preventing Samsung from using the technologies that Apple has the patents for.
Due to the nature of court cases and the fact that civil cases can become extremely drawn out, it is not known when the Australia consumer will be able to pick up the Galaxy Tab again. In an interesting turn of events however, Samsung Australia has filed an action against Apple stating that Apple had infringed on seven Australian patents that are owned by Samsung.
Samsung stated that "the patents that Apple Inc relies on in its claims against Samsung in relation to the Galaxy Tab 10.1 are invalid and should be revoked by the court."
In a very interesting turn, Samsung has reportedly sought to ban the sales of some Apple products in its home market of South Korea. As the war on patents heats up it does of course mean only one thing... the consumers will miss out somewhere while the giants sort out who owes who for what technology.
